Hey ozfiz, sorry to go OT, but I wanted to ask you about your avatar;
I recognise Domo-kun, Usajii, and the bats, but I can't seem to remember the bear's name or where he's from (I know I've seen him before, doesn't he kill people and drool?)

ozfiz
22nd October 2003, 11:20 PM
i'm not quite sure, my bf came across him one day. ever since then he has become sort of an unofficial mascot for us. i've even got a little domo doll. i've only seen a few of his epidsode, cause i have trouble finding actually epidsode. sorry i cant really answer ur question.
knowing the humour in domo it wouldnt suprise me. i have a ruler with him on, and he is bending over "squeazing" out a fart.

Anapan
23rd October 2003, 09:09 AM
Heh, now that I look at it, it's not that bear I was thinking of, just Ta-chan the weasel girl, also from Domo-kun.
You can download all the episodes here: http://www.doebbe.com/domo-kun/index.html
I think I have a set of higher quality ones on a CD somewhere, if you want them I could dig them up.
I tracked down that bear I was thinking ta-chan was too, he's called "Gloomy".

Yeah?! A different dub for english canada?! I thought you had the US version..... I hope the songs sounds better thant the US version.... :)
Interresting! Theres so many different dubs... Here we have it in french but it's a different dub from the one in France...

I don't know where to it find too.... Seems to be hard to find in Canada :(

DrFrag

Yeah, there were different character names in the Canadian English dub. Like Violet was Forlet, Bruton was Pruto, Photar was Epsilon, Goliath was Damdam, etc. Must have had different voice actors too. Did anyone tape it to VHS, by the way?

I looked into this a while back and it seems the company who did the dub in Canada is either not interested in releasing it or has run into licencing problems.

The regular English dub released by Siren (Aus) and Manga (US) was dubbed in Madison, Wisconsin, at the University of Wisconsin.

You shoudn't have said us... I'm curious, I want to know now! :D

Let see...
A few km from France...
- It could be Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Italy, Monaco

But you said some people don't really know this country and Louis'74 said that you're close to him. So it can't be Belgium, Germany and Italy...

It could be Liechtenstein but it's not really close to France

So it must be Mocaco...
If so, not a surprise for me... I know this country, at least for it famous F1 race....

I used the word 'close' as a relative term. To be honest, I also thought fafner could live in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxemburg or Holland.
However, he's the only one who can solve this mystery (if he wants to, of course) :) .

snorkyller
15th May 2004, 08:05 AM
Yeah, I checked an Atlas to see which country is close to both France and Switzerland.

But remember what you said: all people usually start saying "hey? what is that? is it a country?"
It was as if you would live in a strange country :) So I thought about Monaco and Liechtenstein 'cause these are really small countries.

But Luxembourg... I can't believe that some people doesn't know Luxembourg as a country... !

Snorkyller:** "Mini-Canada? Why?
Louis'74: Because of the mountains, forrests, rivers, lakes and valleys. Almost the same landscapes

Hey!!! I tought it was OUR landscapes which were similar to yours 'cause many people call the area where I live (Charlevoix county) "the little Switzerland"... No kidding....!!!! Really strange!

Well, when Switzerland is compared to Canada, people probably have in mind the Rocky Mountains. But I'm not in the Rockies... Our mountains are really smallest than that. So we can't call our area : "Mini-Rockies". So, to compare Charlevoix County, we probably choose a place similar to the Rockies, but with "landscape reduced in size" (as you said) : Switzerland. I don't know.... I just try to find an explanation....

Very funny! ^_^

WOups.... Realy, I'm sorry Louis'74, it's a "cut and pace" error...
I've made the correction...

How can you get the nickname when you quote (as below)?
QUOTE (snorkyller @ May 14 2004, 05:41 AM)

I write it 'cause I don't know so I made a mistake...

Strange Wings
15th May 2004, 06:29 PM
:P Absolutely no problem.

As far as the nickname in quotes concernes, if you click on the quote-opening tag, it appears like this: [QUOTE]

Now for the nickname after the quote, just write it like this, but all within the square brackets - for exemple: [QUOTE=snorkyller,May 15 2004, 03:31 AM]

Then put in the quoting lines and click on the quote-closing tag, like usual.
:)

However, if you mean to quote a whole previous post you can also click on the quote field with the yellow bubble which is shown on the post's right side above. Like this, it will add the username automatically to the quote, also all emoticons, pictures and URL links will be shown in it.
You also will be able to edit the quote (for re-sizing etc.).

27, male, I live in Eastern Ontario, Canada... specifically, a higher-value suburb crammed in between a garbage dump and a swamp... seriously!

This is my first post as well... I've been lurking for I think almost a year now... since the same day I saw the premier ep of the 2003 series air on YTV. Why'd they have to stop airing... couldn't they just move to a different time slot... :( Oh well at least I got upto the MicroBears ep.

I am going through severe AB withdrawl now, I've seen pretty much everthing I can watch off anapan's ftp site (that plays on my old computer)... but I want to see more subbed new stuff, like when Astro & UranI mean Zoran (that's a name of a giant robot Elephant!) had scout uniforms on or something...

Ok I'll ttyl it's late. B)

I'm 25, from Canada. I definately watched the Canadian dub when I was a kid, but I was too young to remember any of the differences. I had a HUGE argument with this girl a couple months ago who insisted that Dr Elefun's name was Professor Peabody & I told her she was insane... turns out she was right, we were just talking about a different dub!

The main reason I brought this thread back was not so much to introduce myself (which I've already done) but rather to point out that going through this old thread, the first THREE Canadians I searched (Amapan, Wild Pegasus & someone else) were ALL apparently born on Nov.30th... weird, eh?

*edit - there seems to be an abnormal amount of people born on Nov 30th, I've now found about 5 or 6! Is that the default birthdate or something???

I was 45 on the third of Oct. Looks like I'm the geezer of this bunch. :D

That makes me (horrors!!) 56. Eh, it's nothin'! :p

I live in the Town of Mt. Hope, New York -- a lovely corner of Orange County, New York -- near the base of the Shawangunk mountains. We're famous for West Point and the Orange County Choppers!

Hey Jeffbert, you're birthday is the day after my husband's - that's neat. Curious though, more people in my life have October birthdays than any other month. Guess I'm a Libraphile.

I am fourteen and Live in the Great big state of Texas in its most famous city, San Antonio
Despite living here I have almost no reason to learn the Spanish language.
I don't watch or read anything Spanish and I have no Spanish friends so i might try to learn Japanese instead.
I plan to learn in secret then surprise my mom. (Who knows English and Spanish)

I am Faram's little sister, and I'm two years younger than him. And as you can guess, we're from the same place. :ninja:

You know what's weird? I'm learning Spanish AND Japanese. For a short time, when I was about four, me and my parents lived in Oklahoma, and I picked up some Spanish. After my 11 year old sister was born, we moved back to Ohio. As of right now, I can understand both Spanish and Japanese, but I can speak neither of them fluently yet, although I can sing some anime songs almost perfect.

hay no problem, but people are mostly telling us what state/province/whetever they call the devitions in there countery ocatioaly a city but that is as cloce as they get, and the age is just a number.

ofcorse if sombody doesn't want to post that info there is no reason they have to, just might be interisting.

Ah no thats fine i see what you mean. Though i think it's okay to say your age, i mean, no one really is going to find out where you are by your age and username XD
I've delt with a creeper on the internet before. Though she was more just weird than anything (and luckly lived in a totally different contry... didn't stop her trying to get me over there, or get herself over here) *shudder*
But i've done actual pen-pal trade things over the internet, so nowerdays i'm not so bothered about saying where i live, i just don't give out my full address.
but as said earlier i know what you mean, to be honest i wouldn't recomend anyone under 16 giving out where they live. But cheers for looking out for everyones safty.

Just a question am i the only Astro fan from the UK here? ): I havn't seen anyone else from Britianland around here yet. Are we a rare breed or something?

gotta agree with you both on that posting your address or gomthing stupid like gps cordnats would be asking for trouble, but a city or larger geographical location doesn't hurt, for the longest time I had edmonton alberta canada as my location beside the posts, I changed it because I wanted to put somthing funny.

pluss the mods would boot off any creeps, this place seems safe, I for one feel cunfterbol makeing friends here, I don't think I have to wory about fackers and creeps here, not like some horror stories I have herd about public irc servers.

and the simple fact that astroboygf cares to let us know about the potental for trouble shows me that the people here are good.

But I suppose they would be powerless if the creeps would show up at your home, that's what AstroBoyGF wanted to say ;)
