Yeah! Tachikoma's are cool.

Tachikoma? What is that?

I take it this is a new series or something? I never read any manga or anything about this (I have read, posibly, 5 mangas my whole life anyway..) but the movie of the same name was reasonalby interesting if somewhat short. I bought the DVD of that movie a few months back but have not had a chance to watch it yet.

I Probably should not say this, but why the hell doesnt some one give that poor girl some clothes? And also some decent meals! I really don't think I could watch a show and take it seriously if she is supposed to be the butt-kicking law inforcement. Seriously.. Are YOU threatened by a little anorexic girl in panties pulled up her crack and a shirt that looks like it 4 sizes too small? I think not. and that final pic? thigh boots, a bustierre and a Brando Jacket? Jesus.. Some character designers (or possibly wardrobe designers) need to be shot, honestly.

The girl is a killer Cyborg, her body is synthetic. This series is very popular, and is coming to Cartoon Network this november. It will blow away every other anime on earth. It has all the things a hit anime needs, full color saturation, violence, and that sexy outfit. :D
Which boys just eat up. I don't think they'll get the chance to sabotage this one, like they did Astroboy. I just bought the volume 01 DVD and it's both dubbed and in japanese with subs... Beautiful animation, fab sound, great writing, fabooo music score. A must. :wahah:

I don't understand the need to wear only underwears  If she wanders half-nude, why should she even bother to wear clothes at all  I don't understand the need to put nude or half-nude chicks everywhere be they human of cyborgs
If I want to see nude chicks, I go and buy porn. If I want to see an anime with an interesting plot, I go to see Ghost in the Shell. Why doesn't Major wear decent clothes? Would Ghost in the Shell Standalone Complex need such a strange promotion? Is it so bad? I can't believe it from the sequell of such a great anime.
I still haven't seen this serie so far (maybe I miss something), but what I see doesn't push me to make the effort. Or maybe Cybotron has made a special selection? :P

Girls can be lesbian, and I could also be gay while we speak about that :wahah:
I just wonder why is there so many images of Major where she is half-nude in what appears as "normal scenes". Why in her boss office? Why during what looks like a mission with her boss? Is she always clothed like that, or have you just put the few images where she is half-nude? :P
I don't remember her like that in the original Ghost in the Shell, only a small scene at the beginning and another at the end, and it looked plausible. Did you pick the images in the same kind of situations? ;)

It's so the show will be a hit... Duhhhh.
And these are the pictues coming through from Japan and France. In times of war this is the kind of stuff you can expect. Show the boys what they're fighting for.

Now that I re-read calmly my recent posts in this discussion I note I have over-reacted a bit :D Cybotron had no chance and accidentally pressed the big red button that reads "detonate" :P
Let me explain...
I suppose most of you like jam. However would like jam in your meat? In your vegetables? Everywhere? :o Personnally I would become sick at the slightest view of jam http://www.astroboy-online.com/forums/style_images/1/icon8.gif That's the very origin of the word spam (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spamming#Etymology) ;)
Seeing nude chicks everywhere to sell anything from shampoo to toothpaste just makes me sick http://www.astroboy-online.com/forums/style_images/1/icon8.gif and the images at the top of the discussion made me throw up all over :P
Hope I haven't sprinkle too many people  You were on first line Cybotron, I hope you didn't get too much  :P

I agree wholeheartedly. Too much of even the best things (except $), Popeye's spicy Fried chicken, Pizza Hut meat lovers' pizza, Mrs. Fields' chocolate chip cookies (hot & soft), Grandma Utz lard potato chips, etc., causes them to lose their power to please. Even naked women when over used can lose their significance. Its like the gansta rappers are wearing out the curse words, which once they no longer offend anybody, will require replacement by new words. As far as cheeky little buns go, I think that having them peek out from shorts or briefs is cuter than fully exposed by g-strings. :D I think it is something to do with the girl's supposed unawareness that her cheeks are showing, plus, the elasticzed hem kinda cuts accross in a rather amusing way.

First.... I pressed the detonate button on purpose. Second... I knew Astroboy had been sabotaged when I saw that they put pants on Uran. Third.... The Real Astroboys won't stand for these attacks in Cartoonland. All Fantasyland will rise up and counter attack. All units will stand alone in combat mode. The entire Nursery control will strike back. I located the attackers.... I destroyed them when I had found them. The entire Fleet is my witness.... Have a nice day... :) Pika Pika X14 forever!

Well... Strictly speaking, only God himself could be the "Master of Chaos." Chaos existed before the creation of the world and men, and was done away with by God. In the Theran and Greek Zeus protogenesis, Chaos was the progenitor of the Theran Titans, and these were the first heavens. Those heavens perished in a vast volcanic cataclysm that left only Zeus extant. It is said that these were in fact deposed by Zeus, who reigned in their stead. The form of Chaos is known only by God. :wahah: Chaos is gone, done away with. In the Judeo-Christian Apocalypse it is the Lord of the Orders that is the destroyer of the world .... Not Chaos. But Anti-Chaos, Order. :P

I just watched the 1st disc, which I believe had 4 episodes on it, & began watching the Director's interview. 26 episodes in all, & at best next week's release will take us through ep. 8. I hate it when there is a huge delay between the release of the first and last disc in a series. I especially hate it when the series is as cool as this one! :D

I Probably should not say this, but why the hell doesnt some one give that poor girl some clothes?
Who am I to give a rational answer...?

My impression from the film was that she had to take off her clothes for her stealth camo to work--there's two scenes in the film where she has clothes on, but once she's using stealth, the clothes are gone. This one is kinda weird since there are clearly other people using stealth and they don't have to take their clothes off (!!), but I have the feeling that being a cyborg, Kusanagi's stealth is built in or something--meant only to disguise her body.

Regardless, I also think part of the use of nudity in the movie was to also emphasize that the body wasn't her's and it was only a machine.

...which isn't to say they weren't having fun drawing her naked quite a bit of the time.

Got it from the Internet some time ago... It seemed interesting but difficult to follow due to very bad image and subtitles quality (it was a screener with Japanese audio and English subtitles). At a time I had to pause all the time because they were talking a lot and the subtitles covered the whole screen (no kidding  ) and I had not the time to read them :D Unfortunately a pain to understand  I will have to wait until it is published in my country to really appreciate it ;)

No of course, this country does exist :P
Here is the article on the wikipedia about the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luxembourg). You see the small stain on the map at the right of the article? Be sure to use a lens or you may miss it :P And if you wonder why there is the word "grand", know that a joke is running that says that "Grand" is to comfort the Grand Duke of Luxembourg for having such a small... I mean a large country :D

No, the small country stuck between France, Germany and Belgium... You know, that small gap you see on atlas between those countries, where there is not even room to put the name :P I bet I will have to wait at least 6 months to see only the preview of "Ghost in the Shell 2" in theaters :(
Surely you don not mean the Duchy of Grand Fenwick?
No of course, this country does exist :P
Here is the article on the wikipedia about the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luxembourg). You see the small stain on the map at the right of the article? Be sure to use a lens or you may miss it :P And if you wonder why there is the word "grand", know that a joke is running that says that "Grand" is to comfort the Grand Duke of Luxembourg for having such a small... I mean a large country :D [/b][/quote]
Review of The Mouse that roared. (http://www.popmatters.com/film/reviews/m/mouse-that-roared.shtml) I always thought the idea of a football sized doomsday machine was a bit comical.

I counted three occurances of this image in the captured frames from disc 1, & 4 from disc 2. I believe that I only captured three of four on disc 1. As these occur after every episode, I do believe that my previous post was correct: there are 4 eps/disc.

I just finished volume 4. The Tachakomas' AI is apparently causing some unexpected behavior. But, as this discussion belongs on the Astroboy discussion section, I will put it there.

See TV Tome: Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Episode Guide (http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/EpisodeGuideSummary/showid-24388/Ghost_in_the_Shell_Stand_Alone_Complex/) for details.

I just saw this week's episode. I also got to see GITS 2. After the defeat of their commando rebel elite by the Tachikomas, the anti Cyber Forces main goal would be the shutdown of the Tachikomas. Therefore I would say the Major has now been "Hacked" and that the enemy is trying to destroy Section 9 by making the Major reformat the Tachikoma defensive AI. :D :P :wahah:

I just watched the first episode from the new series, & it was very satisfying to see the Tachicomas not only in good health, but exhibiting a sense of humor.

Although they share each other's experiences through downloading memories, & thus could be said to be 1 organism rather than several, I wonder how to distinguish 1 from another. Do they have individual names? There is the 1 that is always the leader, the 1 that was given the natural oil, & is Batou-san's best friend & savior. My eyes were wet when they were chewed up defending him, putting themselves between the hail of lead & Batou-san.

Yay for robots!

I recently rinished watching both gigs back to back (subs) and I gotta say te show, altho interesting, was not terribly engaging. I think it had a lot to to with the steroid injected dialoge and 'plot'. Everything seemed to te said in the most complicated way it could be. Meh. Interesting, but detached. Even the tachikoma's (who in any other show would have totally owned just on the basic concept) just became one big spuedo-intellectual babble-spiewing cliche.

This show sefinately stuck to the theory of "Use big words to fool them into thinking you are clever" rather than "be clever". It became quite Tiresome. Expecially when ultimately it all ended up in the same place anyway, or nowhere at all.

Having moaned about that however, I did like most of the characters. They were not terribly fleshed out (excuse the pun) but you knew where tehy were coming from. I also liked the "subtle" things in the show. Most of which would be spoiler so probably should not mention any.

I liked the show enough to watch both gigs pretty much back to back, but ultimately when it was over I felt more unsatisfied than anything else. I can't see that the Dub would be any better, and to be honest at this point I don't think I would ever be interested enough to go back to watch it anyway.
