Just saw Space Firebird 2772. Absolutely fantastic, well worth importin. This film (in its original language at least) is an essential part of Tezuka's output featuring animation on par with the short experimental films he did. Many familiar characters show ups as well. Short of a bit of indulgence ...

I really want to click 'buy it now' upon reading this, but I've heard quite a bit of speculation for a US release...

Hmmm...wait or buy???

(incidentally, the Jungle Emperor movie has been out here in the US for something like 2 years. It is strange who gets what movies first.)

The best response is whether you like the manga since it sticks very close to that. I'm not sure 'crappy' is quite the right word for the animation. Rather, it is just important to understand how very little resources were available for the series (within that context, some of the animation is quite...

Ha! I own this thread! Just finished the entire series of 'Leo the Lion' AKA onward Leo AKA Kimba season 2, whatever. After that I felt compelled to watch the Jungle Emperor Leo (yeah, I had the day off with nothing to do.) Needless to say, now that I've been with Kimba / Leo some 80 episodes + a mo...

This is true. That fox sequence is among one of the most powerful sequences I can think of in cinema.

Strange. One of Kurosawa's greats by all means, yet after seeing it once, it is one I feel no ambition to see again. Just saw Kobayashi's Harakiri--now there is a GREAT film! A film by Kurosaw that no one ever sees but is amazing is one of his early ones: "Stray Dogs'. A fantastic cop drama that als...

It's going to be a year before I think most people can say anything about these consoles. It typically takes this long before programmers start really figuring out how to utilize the consoles properly, so unless you are really sold on the titles the consoles are coming with, this really seems like a...

Yeah, forget the 'well known repertoire'--some of that stuff we've all heard so much we're sick of it. Go mess around with Bruckner. All his stuff is great, but mostly nobody ever listens to it (you won't hear cues from his symphonies used in movies or cartoons or anything). Definitely one of the gr...
