Kirobo is a joint project robot made by the university of Tokyo and toyato. Will go to the iss as a companion and data will farther advance the program for toyato partner program.

Looks good in zero G with those Red boots!

It may be a license issue, but I wish someone would make a 'toy' / demonstration robot in Astro's image.

Kirobo is based on Robi which you can buy (at least in Japan and the UK. Hopefully soon in NA). Robi doesn't have Kirobo's red boots, but he DOES have Jetter Mars hair spikes and scarf. With a little paint and some 3D printed replacement parts you could make him look just like Atom. Somewhere on the robogarage web site (link from facebook page) there is a photo of a Robi painted with a green band on his black pants.
