118 Robot Grabby

Postby jeffbert » 12 years ago

JAPANESE HAS NO 'V,' so this should be Robot Gravity. Anyway, this is another fugitive robot story, this one though, is about a military robot who shuns his purpose for being.

Early scientific theory held that gravity propagated via waves, & scifi stories used this now obsolete theory. Grabby or 'Gravity' emits these waves--

Note the uniforms, especially the helmets resemble those of THE THIRD REICH. Tezuka used it as the model for tyranny in more than a few stories.

He runs away, & hopes for freedom

I have frames enough to make a GIF of Uran powdering her nose.

So, apparently, though the family nursed him back to health, Grabby wants no part of them.

Image
Aboard the enemy sub, the commander orders his minions to retrieve Grabby.

Image
Is this short guy Rommel, or just does he merely resemble him?

More to come. :p

In fact, this theory is not completely ruled out. What is certain is that at quantum level, gravity exhibits the same "weird jumps" as the other forces.
The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

Thanks, AstroBoy03; I started the thread rather late last night, I expect to link the remaining images tonight.

fafner: :p My understanding of the physics says that gravity is tied only to mass; but I could be wrong.

Uran, just happens to have a soft landing.

But the foreign agents are far from done with cobalt, as they smash him in to the ground:

Grabby tries to fit into society by taking a laborer's job, but as he has power over gravity, he will be tempted to use it to save the day, though doing so will ruin his cover.

Image
The dam is breaking, & as a robot, Grabby must SERVE MAN (but not in the way depicted by the TWILIGHT ZONE episode of the same name). Thus, just as the robot Porgy had to use his own parts to repair Atom so he could stop the approaching tsunami (I will add the reference later!), so Grabby must expose his identity to save the day.

I think this wrench is rather special, it may be made for this type of robot.

I thought these next two were just plain cute:

Image
"Why am I so heavy?"

After defeating the bad guys, Ochanomizu repairs Grabby:

Image
What dish should a robot family serve a robot guest?

Image

Image
Oops, I guess the bad guys are still out there.

Image
How often does Cobalt fly?

Image
Now the bad robots are gone.

Image
Ochanomizu has removed this part from Grabby.

Image
And that is the end of that. Now the military will have no reason to pursue him. Tawashi comes in & is disappointed that Grabby is now Grabby in name only.

YAAAAY!! Thanks Jeffbert.

One question - do they show you how Cobalt manages to fly? I see the "jet pods" on the back of his legs . . . but do they appear/disappear into his legs, or does he have to put them on and off manually? Seems like Dr. O could have retrofitted the poor fella - but maybe budget cuts at the MOS made that impossible.

I also see he wasn't at dinner (which appeared to be something like cheese and crackers!) - poor Coby. Well, maybe he was out with friends! XD

I think they are merely strapped on, AprilSeven.
