"Oh, one more thing-- one of our bombers crashed off the coast, and one of its H-Bombs will explode soon."

This will cause a massive tsunami, & it will destroy Japan. So, they needed a super robot to dive & disarm the bomb.

Papa is always supportive of Atom's missions, but mama wants to protect her baby.

Poor Atom, burdened with the knowledge that his parents are at each other's throats, the world is about to end, and his siblings are as carefree as ever.

"Tell Professor Ochanomizu that Atom will not help"
[Sheepishly] "Yes, Dear." :lol:

Nakamura asks this guy where he was, when he saw Atom.

Believing Atom had run away, they give Cobalt an aptitude test to see if he could disarm the bomb.

"We're screwed."

A slight adjustment of Kobaruto's innards, & he can track Atom.

I think I remember this story from the Manga, only that was Cobalt's creation story IIRC.
BTW do you have any animated frames for Cobalt smashing the clock?

Cobalt's innards seem a bit less complicated than Atom's. In fact, he's rather empty inside!

I was thinking about that. maybe he liked the original story so much, he adapted and animated it? Or maybe he just ran out of ideas at the time, ufufufu... :lol:

Also, I see that he more closely resembles his brother in this episode, as far as his hairline goes...

@Penguin: What does "IIRC" mean? I see you use it a lot, but I can't comprehend it. I feel as though i may have asked this once, too...

Heeey! Where is Cobalt's HEART?

So maybe "Mama" (I think of her as Astro-Hoshie!

) is REALLY looking out for Coby? "Give HIM a chance to be a hero!"

Otherwise . . . if it were a "safety" issue, it's kinda weird she'd let Cobalt do it, and not Atom. Right? :shifty:

Yes, I do! there were only about 4 frames in the sequence, & they were repeated many times. I thought that the quality of animation had improved since season 1; but while there may have been a few instances of better fluidity, for the most part, I guess they used 12 fps. I will upload the smashing frames tomorrow. :lol:

Oh, the story was called COBALT.

I tried to capture that sequence, but failed. :cry:

It seems that Higeoyaji is criticizing Ochanomizu because he, being a man of science, has turned to Shinto prayers, rather than facing reality.

But,Higeoyaji himself soon seeks the same refuge.

Unlike earlier episodes, in this one, reporter/photographer Norse Necktall ("Snoopy Scoops" so named by Ladd in S1), will remain in the dark.
