08, Where Did Dad Go (JETTER MARS)
08, Where Did Dad Go (JETTER MARS)
Mars is trying to sneak away from the education booth.
I hope this one is not deemed offensive:
I cannot figure out what this this was supposed to do:
Regardless, it goes out of control!
Dr. Yamanoue is in that van, trying to outrun the collapsing embankment.
It appears he has perished.
At this desk, they ask for the director, or whatever title Dr. Y held.
Being told that he is in his office, Mars interprets it as meaning Dr. Y is in his office.
Mars learns the hard way that Dr. Y is done.

This episode is one of my personal favourites. I really enjoyed Mars’s interaction with his father here. Even though Mars does clash with his father a number of times, he does want to have a better relationship with him. Dr. Yamanoue seems to be becoming more considerate towards Mars’s feelings. Instead of punishing Mars for not studying, he shows Mars Japan and explains why he wants Mars to study and train. He also gave Mars his pocket watch to help him sleep
However, their relationship is still strained and Dr. Yamanoue hasn’t fully realized the importance of heart. The argument they had before Dr. Yamanoue went to the gravity test shows that they still had problems communicating with each other. I think that Dr. Yamanoue is a bit jealous of Miri because he feels that she has more of an influence on Mars then he does.
The fact that their relationship was improving but did not develop into a more functional relationship makes Dr. Yamanoune’s sendoff pretty sad.
The paper that Dr. Kawashimo is holding is a document that states that Mars can live with Dr. Kawashimo and he no longer belongs to the Ministry of Science. So it's kind of like an eviction notice.

Thanks a lot, jeffbert, for this thread.. And many thanks, Crazy_Red, for providing appropriate information about the episode's events.
It's very painful to lose your father , even if the father is stubborn as Jetter Mars' father! By the way, Jetter Mars' father is called Dr. Aneed in the Arabic version. The name "Aneed" means stubborn.
Everyone can watch this episode in Arabic by clicking on the following link:

Unfortunately, there are no English subtitles, but it's better than nothing anyway!
