I know this is a strange question but.....how old is astro boy (or Toby) in the 2009 movie? supposedly he's 13 said by the guard; but he's in high school..and In the old 80's series he's supposedly 8 or 9... i have my reasons for asking.... :whistling: CONFUSION!?!?!?!?!!?:

Me>HOW OLD ARE YOU?

:astro: >I dunno.

Me>Your telling me you don't know your own age?

:astro: >Yeah....

Me> :d oh:

It was stated that he was either 12 or 13, probably 12 about to hit 13.

Basically they upped his age for the movie as the writers felt that people would be able to relate better to an older Astro Boy.

If the guard hadn't said, "Jeez kid, you're like 13 years old. It's time you grew a backbone!" I would have guessed 13, 14 and quite possibly 15, but since he did, I would definitely say he was 12 or 13, unless he never went through puberty and is 16 and sounds 12(like Justin Beiber :sick :) .

Like I have already said in various threads, I don't like how they changed Astro's age.

I really didn't mind it much and what jerk said was right, it seems easier to relate to him if he's older, but I personally prefer the younger Astro over the older one.

I still believe that the main character shouldn't be changed or altered unless it is absolutely needed.

In the 2009 film Astro is officially 13 years old, given from the director said exactly. However I think in early production he was 12 years old, but it's just a number changed.

And I'm sure I read somewhere Astro was actually 7 years old in the past animes

He's closer to 8 or 9 in the official works actually.
