Today, Dark Horse stated that they are planning to release Astro Boy Omnibus Volume 1 on October 6, 2015. It will feature almost 700 pages of the out-of-print manga and is available for pre-order.

Nearly Seven Hundred Pages Of The Beloved Manga

In September, there’s a whole new way to enjoy Osamu Tezuka’s beloved Astro Boy: in omnibus form!

Boasting nearly seven hundred pages of content for only $19.99, Dark Horse Comics’ Astro Boy Omnibus Volume 1 features Tezuka’s most popular and influential work, detailing Astro Boy’s jet-powered, superstrong, evil-bashing adventures. Exciting, whimsical, and touching, Astro Boy brings back a classic era of comics and animation, featuring tales that readers both young and old will enjoy.

Collecting rare and out-of-print material, the oversized Astro Boy omnibus collection is the first in a series that brings back Tezuka’s beloved character for a whole new generation to enjoy.

Preorder Astro Boy Omnibus Volume 1 on Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, and IndieBound, or contact a local comic shop with Comic Shop Locator.

You can pre-order it on Amazon right now for $17.99!

Great news, especially considering Dark Horse's previous release of the Astro Boy manga is now out of print. I will definitely consider getting this as the release date gets closer.

Its good this is happening. I have like 13 volumes of the old release, I'd rather replace and extend that via these re-releases. The page size will be increased to right?

Will this be in a different format (IE: Larger pages, spine on right as in Japanese?) than what DH has put out before? Even if it is only a larger, easier to read reprint it would be worth it.

Unfortunately that quote is pretty much all the information about it right now. This website adds a few more details, but no mentions of dimensions yet. They did say this though
In addition to the comics themselves, the Omnibus promises “rare and out-of-print material,” likely including the “commentary” strips that Tezuka drew himself.

There's zero doubt I would double-dip on the whole series if they make the pages bigger.

LARGER pages would be about the only thing that would attract me.

Yeah, I and probably Jeffbert need reading glasses these days! I'm beginning to look for large print books at the library when available!

So...anyone in the UK want to buy the Astro Boy Omnibus for 1,000 pounds? No? How about both for 2,000 pounds?

In all seriousness, it looks like we'll know what the second omnibus volume will look like if it gets released in the US.
