Not exactly what Atom has in his arm cannon. While that was not really explained in the anime, I imagined it as a sort of rail gun that accelerated subatomic particles to relativistic velocities. IE, a bit FASTER than mach 6!

I like the idea of avoiding high explosives (although maybe they just use low explosives?) from the perspective of a post-war battlefield. Hopefully no kids digging up unexploded ordinance in 50 years, etc.

I wonder how they manage to fire it without the gun tearing itself apart? iirc that was the big obstacle in building one.
