Nobody posted about the new campaign for more Tezuka specials that started last night?

A boxset containing Prime Rose, Bagi, Bremen 4! Only $16,000 needed!

Bremen 4 had never even been fansubbed before. It’s the only one streaming so far, so I’ll be sure to watch it ASAP. But oh my god, Prime Rose. And I’m sure there are people out there who feel the same excitement I feel but for Bagi. This boxset may not have Marine Express in it, but I hope the strength of these two specials alone can make up for it. I think it does for me, since I love Bunretsu from Prime Rose so very much.

We have until December 14th to reach the goal. I’ll still be looking for anyone outside North America who’s interested to pledge through me. I’ll act as middleman to anyone looking for one, and everyone living in North America should be doing the same, whatever we can to reach that goal! I’m counting on you all, we may be getting some recent Black Jack animation on DVD soon, but now let’s give the classic, original Tezuka works a chance.

Speaking of Black Jack, I was just looking up AnimeSols, and the second set for Black Jack is up now. The deadline for this one is December 4th, so now's the time to start pledging.

I just wrote up my predictions for the upcoming rounds on Anime Sols:

This round/season (around Sep-Dec) we have:

• Black Jack Set 2 (Yomiuri)
• TV Specials 1981-1984 (Tezuka Productions)
• Dear Brother Set 1 - (Tezuka Productions, but not a Tezuka anime)

Next round (around Jan-Apr):

• Black Jack Set 3
• Black Jack OVAs - already confirmed
• Dear Brother Set 2

Next next round (around May-Aug):

• Black Jack Set 4
• Black Jack OVAs - still going, the set is for 12 50-minute long episodes, so it takes 5 or 6 months.
• Dear Brother Final Set

Next next next round (around Sep-Dec 2014):

• Black Jack Final Set
• ??? - Probably the last two TV Specials - Border Planet and The Tale of Osamu Tezuka - assuming the previous set succeeded.
• ??? - HOPEFULLY Astro Boy 1980’s Blu-ray Set 1. I don’t wanna have to import the upcoming Japanese release with no subs.

Next round after that (around Jan-Apri 2014):

• Black Jack 21 - Only 17 episodes, will they try a Complete Set?
• Astro Boy 1980’s Blu-ray Set 2
• ??? - My guess based on popularity: Kimba 1989 Set 1

My biggest hopes is that I'm right about the Astro Boy Blu-rays. I also hope they consider putting the last two Black Jack OVAs (from 2011) on a Blu-ray Disc if they get enough money. You can probably tell I really want a bigger Tezuka on Blu-ray collection.

I would be happy with a good subbed version of Astro on DVD. I actually would like to see the 2003 version first followed by All of the 60's version subbed, starting with episode 105, IE the non elv.

Also, I'll be more inclined to pledge on something new after they make delivery on the first BJ series.

Yeah, I'd like that too, plus the Astro Boy short films if its at all possible.

If they ever get Mushi on board, that's what I'd like them to do too. Although technically, episodes 105-110, 113, 119, 121 and 124 were released in English, as episodes 96, 95, 97-104 respectively. But that'd be a minimal amount of repeated episodes (7 on the first set, 3 on the second, and then it's all new stuff).

And once they get all the way to episodes 193, they would go back to the beginning of the series and try to release it subbed all the way. They would start numbering the covers from #1, and if they manage to fund the whole series, it would be possible to get new covers for volumes 9-15 that are actually numbered (the first editions wouldn't be numbered so that people's collection wouldn't seem to be missing the first half, and the series is episodic anyway).

That's how I have envisioned it.

I see no reason to wait since another opportunity like Anime Sols won't present itself. But still fine by me; we're getting the Black Jack set in November, so there'll still be time for Set 2 and the Tezuka movies.
