 I am moving to a new home, & unfortunately, the cable provider forgot to run a connection to our side of the street. He says the best case scenario is that we will be connected by the 12/21. Not good, when we are moving 12/07.

You can always tether your cell phone to your computer via USB to use it as a GSM modem so you can browse the web and get your emails. Will eat up your GB, so you might end up paying extra fee for data that month. A few years back after a hurricane we lost our landline phone and DSL when the phone lines were damaged by the storm. So I ended up using the tether method to get on line with my laptop. Since AT&T was my GSM and DSL provider, and they were slow to fix the phone lines they did cut us some slack on the overages.

Thanks, Tetsuwan Penguin. My current cell phone is way too old for that. I am considering buying a modern one, but for just that use, it seems too much an expense. I never use it but for rare occasions.

Well if you have a dial up modem in your computer, your cable provider might have a dial up number you could use to at least get emails. That is if you even have a land line.

I HAVE RETURNED. sO MUCH STRESS WAITING FOR LOWES TO CALL & TELL ME THE 4 HOUR WINDOW FOR DELIVERING THIS OR THAT. currently Waiting for the call regarding the washer-dryer pedestals coming sometime tomorrow. :x

So, the Xfinity guy working this new neighborhood, initially said that we would be up & running just a few days. I called him 5 days before moving. It turns out, that they had not even physically connected the three houses to their trunk line. Last Monday, they started digging. Just this Tuesday, the guy came in with the DVR, etc. I wish I knew I could have kept my old phone #.
