Does anyone know if there was ANY kind of media coverage to the public prior to the release of the first (1960's) Astro Boy anime in the US? Apparently the situation has been corrected with "AstroBoy vs. IGZA" being announced as the "shortened" name of "Astro boy/Tetsuwan Atomu visits the person, IGZA 100,000 light years away"! At least that is now how it is listed on Astro Boy's Wikipedia page!

Very cute! I liked it a lot. It was too bad the original theme was scrapped. The American theme music changed the whole dynamic of the show.

I assumed that the 80s Astro Boy didn't air in the US because of the violence and rather downer and bitter sweet stories. Censors probably didn't approve. I don't know what their deal with the 2003 series was. I guess when it wasn't the instant hit they thought it would be, they just gave up on it....
