Not that that episode was not funny as it was, but it could have been more so. If only they had included a shot of Atom sitting like a dog and scratching himself as a dog does.
And if he got wet, shaking himself likewise.
However, that is as far as I would go with the doggy behavior, because they do other things less appropriate.

That reminds me of a really funny Tex Avery Droopy Cartoon:
The Three Little Pups used the basic plot of the 3 little pigs, but made the villain the Big Bad Dog Catcher voiced by Daws Butler, who also provided nearly the same voice for
Huckleberry Hound. Not to mention the many other cartoon characters to whom he gave voices:
