The Astro In Metropolis Roleplay

Postby Fauna » 12 years ago

All right everybody, welcome! :tezuka: Welcome to the latest roleplay (as well our first in a long while), featuring this story to be acted out with a number of members...

Astro and Uran/Zoran (possibly Cora, Astra Girl and Zinc too, if their players would like) are on holiday in Metropolis, while O'Shay goes to oversee the public unveiling of the Yakimura Drive. This drive is capable of repairing damaged robotics systems or manipulating a robot beyond its pre-programmed limits. The drive is stolen overnight, and the kids are left to try and figure out who's got it before a disaster occurs.

Ghost: Astro
Androids101: Dr. O'Shay
GLAB: Zinc, Soul
Alittleacorn: Cora
AstroCutie: 1980 Uran
Fauna: Skunk Kusai, Tenma, Duke Red
Black Rabbit: Daddy Walrus, Astra Girl
Astroboy03: 2003 Zoran
Novacain: 2003 Atlas
Astro Forever: Blue Knight

The rules are as follows:

"Fauna" wrote:1) Respect the other members.
While you participate in any games, have some consideration of your fellow users to avoid any arguments, misunderstandings or slander. You'll have a better time here if everybody's having a good time.

2) No posting inappropriate or offensive material.
The moderators hold every right to intervene if we or any user notice you've posted something offensive - this includes anything brutally violent, sexually-explicit, racist, homophobic or sexist. This isn't to censor you, this is to make sure that very young users don't walk in on porn or hate speech.

3) Original characters are perfectly fine in the story, but don't let them hijack the plot.
I hold absolutely no bias against fan characters, just as long as they're not being made out to completely overshadow the rest of the cast (including canon characters and other original characters) or to be ultra powerful, because this makes other players feel inferior.

Commence! And remember, everybody, to take it easy and have fun in this!

(Just gonna slide the plot in a bit)

One of the nearby televisions was in the middle of rerunning a news report, the audio tinny from what could be heard over the hotel crowd. The Metropolis locals had long become accustomed to hearing this week's broadcast and therefore tuned it out, but should anyone focus on it, they would have seen a small, crystalline tube dotted with inner wirings displayed on a blue silk background.

"...This prototype Yakimura Drive," continued a disembodied female voice, "Is capable of repairing corrupted AI systems, even restoring beyond previous back-up points! Industrial use begins this fall, while civilian use is still a matter of debate."

A tall, strong-looking man in a suit - blonde, yet his skin quite dark - graced the screen in a sudden scene cut. He sat at a gold-lined desk, hands folded, as the text "Duke Red" faded onto the corner of screen.

"I can assure you that this shall not take long, citizens." His voice was warm, deep; almost an arrogant edge to it. "I will see to it that this drive becomes publicly available."

"Yeah, guess so..." Cora said in response to Zinc's comment and gave a yawn. Honestly she wasn't all up on technology these days, in fact, she still didn't get how their robot friends worked.

-But something capable of repairing A.I's, they meant the mind right?-

What was ever corrupt about that? Unless it was for old robots...meh, where did her 'robots for dummies' book go?

On hearing Zoran's suggestion for a game, Cora shook her head.

"Blah, count me out, I'm not in the mood for playtime right now," she uttered, crashing out on the couch, "I think I'll just catch some z's until the others show up."

Which she'd been ready to do until...

-Uh oh-

"Oh second thought," Cora said springing up and moving quickly to the bathroom, "I gotta pee!"

(Yeah, so I haven't role played in forever, so if this intro sucks, sorry. Ah, and sorry It's so long. T_T)

Daddy Walrus walked down the busy streets of Metropolis, struggling to get through the crowded area. The smell of gasoline and smoke was heavy, and the air cold and damp. Everywhere, there were people and robots, running and walking about, caring only of their own business.

Daddy Walrus fought his way out of the crowd, ending up next to a slightly dirty glass store window. At first he paid no attention to the old televisions inside the store, until he heard something quite interesting.

“...This prototype Yakimura Drive," an incorporeal female voice was saying, "Is capable of repairing corrupted AI systems, even restoring beyond previous back-up points! Industrial use begins this fall, while civilian use is still a matter of debate."

Daddy Walrus stared at the television. He pressed his face against the glass window, hoping the woman would continue. “This is something worth looking into,” Daddy Walrus thought to himself. Suddenly, he saw someone else was now on the screen. The man was tall, his skin quite dark in comparison to his spiky blonde hair, with a aura of superiority.

"I can assure you that this shall not take long, citizens." He said, his voice deep and slightly arrogant. "I will see to it that this drive becomes publicly available."

Daddy Walrus walked away from the store window, not sure what to think.

As Daddy Walrus walked away from the glass window, in shock, he felt a small bump on his leg. He looked down and saw that it was Zinc, one of his student's little sisters.

"Hello, Zinc. Fancy meeting you here!" He patted her on the head. "What are you doing in Metropolis? And where is your older brother?"

Daddy Walrus glanced around, looking for the young robot boy. He would have to give the boy a talking to about letting his little sister play on the streets.
