I just ordered it from Amaz...jp, from the English description of the book, it manga based on the TV show. I will soon know if I correctly understood.

You would be correct! It is a manga adaptation of the Jetter Mars anime. That's a 2019 reprint of the 1977 manga by Shigeto Ikehara (known for doing a bunch of Mega Man manga); that manga came out when the Jetter Mars anime was airing on TV.

I wouldn't mind picking up the 2019 reprint myself at some point.

So, I received this book the other day, and flipping through it, found next to nothing familiar, except the characters. Dr. Y. is not killed, but is all over the book.
