Astro Boy << Original Edition >> 1 Comic – October 25, 2021

After reading the description translated by CHROME, I noticed an inconsistency between the number of pages & the text. The translation says that all the contents from units 1 through 6 are included. But elsewhere, it says "422 pages".

I received my copy today, delivered by DHL, & looking at the cover, there is "001". This, & the fact that the book ends halfway through the ZZZ story suggests that there will be more to come.

Just as important, if not more so, is the fact that, comparing the contents to the UNIT 1'S RESULTS IN A MATCH. If you ever wanted to have the original version, this is it. Best of all, it cost a fraction of what I paid!

You are correct in that there is more to come: the 1st volume you picked up is 1 of 16. There will be one volume every month through January 2023, through the end of the manga. Full details on it can be read here:

The next two volumes are already up for pre-order on Amazon Japan:

i ALREADY HAVE SOOOOO much manga, I do not know where I would put another 15 volumes!

That, & the fact that I really do not need redundant stuff.

Yet, there are several pages of text in the back of v1, & I might suppose there might be in succeeding volumes.

Is anyone else ordering these?

I would very much like to talk about this release with someone who also has it.

I have zero manga books at the moment, and it will stay this way for quite a while, because I'm trying hard to save money. But wow, these look incredible! 70 years since Atom's first appearance... it makes me wonder what Tezuka might think about today's world. If he hadn't passed away in 1989, he'd be just slightly younger than Queen Elizabeth; so it's not impossible for a man Tezuka's age to be alive in 2021. He'd be quite elderly, nonetheless: 93 years old this November.

Now I want to start a thread concerning this topic... how WOULD Osamu Tezuka view our real 21st century world?

My father would be about the same age, were he still alive. Many people lived to that age, and beyond, and were still quite healthy. Chuck Yeager lived to 97, and was still flying jets in his 90's.

I’ve been a bit disappointed that the English editions of the manga are all out of order, namely seeing Astro’s origin story right out of the gate instead of CAPTAIN ATOM, which I had to track down online, and seeing Uran show up with no introduction. While I like the commentary by Tezuka at the start of the chapters, it’s a bit frustrating trying to read in the original order.

I think that the order had something to do with the lengths of the stories, & how to best fit them into volumes containing n number of pages, etc. However, these 70th anniversary comics are in the proper sequence. I just received volume 10.
