So compared to CAPTAIN ATOM, does it end the same way, with the space-Humans and the Earth-Humans at a standoff in which Astro has to negotiate before shots are fired and they resolve to send Earth-Humans with the migrants to colonize other worlds?

I really wish there were a way to actually watch these.

Also, space-Tobio is a grown-up? Makes me wonder about the time frame between Earth-Tobio’s death and Tenma’s discovery that Astro can’t age.

I always wondered about the 'joke' with police cars drawn as dogs. I thought that was an American joke, not something the Japanese would have thought of.

Without checking the DVD booklet, I think that this episode was more accurate to the manga. As I recall, the booklet usually says why a story was redone.
