Well, in Canada here its pretty much legal to download movies and music because we pay royalties to producers on every piece of recordable media sold. Not including exchange rates we pay about 15-20 percent more for recordable media than other places, and in return for paying those royalties to the producers the supreme court ruled that downloading media is not criminal (the cases brought to court by publishing companies trying to sue Canadians have all been rejected because of it :D )..

I've found that firewalls are way more trouble than they're worth. If you download video a firewall can only make that harder. Also, if the feds wanted to know what was on your computer, they would never even think of hacking it, in fact the only people trying to do that are script kiddies with trojans. As long as you don't run programs people send you you should be OK. If you wanna be more safe on file sharing networks, just disable uploading, it's that simple.

OMG, I just downloaded and watched 'Urans Quest'. That has got to be one of the most brilliant plots/scripts in a cartoon ever!! When I first saw the computer that thought it was god I instantly remembered it from my childhood, but of course when I was five I couldnt appreciate the the cleverness or irony of the overall story, and that line at the end!!
Astro: "Theres a moral here somewhere but I dont know what it is.." LOL!

Yeah, that's one of my favourite eps too. Some funny scenes in it, ie Uran who gets tired by watching through all religious forms and shapes at the video library  .
Or as Uran wants to see Dr. Elefun for answering her question.
Dr. Elefun: "You want to know where god lives? Well some people would disagree, but I think god lives in the heart."
Uran: "Really? Let me see him!" (tries to take off Dr. Elefun's clothes, but Astro holds her back).

Some tongues planted very firmly in cheek throughout this ep :D .

This one is one of my favorites too, and I'm pretty sure I missed this one in the 80s. Anyway, as a kid, no doubt I would have seen nothing special :P I love the part when Uran deduced that her god should be Dr Elefun, I guessed this one almost 30 seconds before it happened :D

Hey Anapan san.
I'm just wondering whether there are some more french 80's eps around.
If so, can you give me some links, or (maybe ;) ) load some more on your FTP?
It's no big deal if it shouldn't be possible, I just thought of asking.

 Your FTP-site is THAT cure for every addicted Astroboy-fan anyway  !

Hey,
I download what I can find. I periodically swap file sharing networks, I'm almost done with Bit Torrent, and then I'll switch over to Kazaa and Emule again. So-far I've only seen french episodes on Kazaa and Emule. If/when I see more french episodes, I'll be sure to download them.

The computer that thought itself god reminds me of
Image
Colossus: The Forbin Project (1970). It seems that this computer whose purpose was national defense, ganged up with its Soviet counterpart, and decided to rule the world.

I thought Uranium's patience seemed a bit too long for a 6 year-old, as she sat through several introductions to world religion. I am sure that the dub showed Christianity first.

Still, my all-time favorite ep is Uran & Uran, for its tap-dance scene in the schoolyard. Stupid English editors thought that scene was expendable, and cut it from Uran's Twin!
