Forum Moderators and Rules/Guidelines

Hi All!

Some of you may have already noticed that we have some new Moderators on the forums to help keep things running smoothly. You can view the moderating team by clicking on the View Forum Leaders link on the forum home page, and if you have any questions or at any time need a hand with something on the forums, they'll be glad to assist. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of them for volunteering to help look after the place :)

We've also put together some forum rules that we'd like all of you to have a quick read through. They're pretty straight forward and hopefully not too harsh ;)

One thing that has been a point of discussion for a few of us are signatures, as we've noticed some fairly large ones cropping up lately. While we're happy to let you guys put images in your signatures, we do ask that they not take up too much room nor take too long to load. If you need any help getting your signature down to a suitable size, there are plenty of very talented people here on the forums who I'm sure would be more than happy to help you out. :)

As always, if you have any questions or comments, feel free to reply here or to send any of us a PM or email.

Peace :astro:

Quick question, sense I have dealt with an issue on this"

No posting of illicit or pornographic material.
This includes the posting of links to sites containing such material, be they in your signature or otherwise.

We had an issue where an anime does contain some issues on this (Don Dracula was an instance), including Astro Boy which has had a few instances of Female Nipples and one instance of a Turtles Testicles. While I understand this rule to a certain extent, but if we do post episode pictures, or off link them. Would this be violation of this rule at all? Like, if we made a topic, with a wholesection of pictures on the episode, would we simply have to remove the pictures that may be in violation of this.

Like for example, we had a discussion on the turtle nudity, and even Astro Forever made a picture sample of this. Would this be violation of the rule? Same goes for off site linking to this. Or is there an exception to this rule if it's represented in a non pornographic manor?

Anywho, thanks in advance.

(Also, just for the record, check the Manga Entertainment set versioin of "The Return of Queen CleoPatra" to see what I meant about the female nudity.)

Good points, Chibigoku. I don't remember anything special about nudity in Manga's version of "The Return of Queen Cleopetra" so I can't speak of that one. I do remember Astro smiling, in the Japanese version, after realizing he was coming out of the big robot's backside after he won the battle. :D I had never realized when watching in English. :p

As for the turtle, here is the post Chibigoku is referring to. It was an animated gif. I speeded a frame or two to make sure it was alright, but I didn't think it was wrong in the beginning since it was, after all, an Astroboy scene, and besides, it was a turtle.

Also, what about the link somebody posted a while ago with beautiful artwork? I think a few of them were a little bit on the adult side, though I don't remember seeing anything that I'd call pornography, to me it was more bad taste.

It really refers more to explicit pornography more so than anything. Perhaps the wording should be changed slightly.

Stuff like our turtle friend there are perfectly fine - not to mention hilarious :p I haven't seen that before. :)

If you thank the turtle is bad, you should see Totoo (Melmo's kid brother) after he is transformed from a frog, back into a little boy. He does a victory dance in a high-class Restaurant, while wearing his birthday suit, & is anotomically correct (Episode guide: see # 16, I am Human!). In the Captain Jet video, There is a scene with a statue of Pan in a garden fountain, and he is tinkling :D . In the Blackjack manga, Pinoko is anotomically correct as she lay on the table during her construction. :hyo:

I think that the Japanese had different ideas of what was obscene than the Westerners do. However, it is not fair to group everybody under those labels. It may be that children were not regarded as sex-objects, & were sometimes depicted nude.

I just thought I'd post a friendly reminder about signatures, since I've seen a few that were exceeding the limit by a lot, either in Kb or in pixels:

  • Signature images are limited to 400x100x75kb
If you would like an image in your signature, it may be no more than 400 pixels wide, 100 pixels tall and may not exceed 75 kilobytes in size. A signature image counts as 5 lines of text (see below). Smilies do not count towards this limitation. Some acceptions may be made for signatuers that are just over the recommended limit.
  • Text in signatures.
In general, try not to have a signature that is going to be larger than 90% of your posts. You may have up to six (6) lines of text in your signature at the default font size. Images count as 5 lines (see above), this means you may only have one line of text if using an image in your signature.

If you have a signature that you really like but is too big, either in Kb or in pixels, ask for help. Many of us here will gladly help you reduce the size. :) It'd be much better than having to play cops for us moderators. ;)

Wow!

Wow! A lot has changed since I last visited in here. The forum system has dramatically changed. I hope I can do business in this forums again.

Just an FYI that I've fixed the no deletion message issue as pointed out by DrFrag and Vergere, so messages shouldn't be mysteriously disappearing anymore.

Well, they'll still disappear but you'll at least see a reason now :)

DrFrag wrote:This thread is a prime example. On my screen, I see this:

Apparently only moderators "see" deleted messages. It wasn't until Vergere checked with his standard account that he discovered it isn't visible to everyone else.

That is all
