One thing I hope the new movie does

Wouldn't it be really cool if the CGI Astroboy movie uses a real child to voice Astro? I think it would add a natural sense that this is in fact a child if he was actually played by a child and not some 40 year old woman trying to sound nine. Does anyone else agree?

I think the voice itself is more important than the person to whom it belongs.

Hi- Thanks, some of the women, guess i am prejuduiced, do a great voice-over job, but would be cute if they could have a talented child do the voice for Astroboy. I read for a Peanuts' cartoon they had a girl do Charlie Brown's voice. Thanks and hugs everyone.

I think this is a fairly silly question. Due to child-labor laws, and to the fact that they are still very young and unable to memorize long and complex lines like those often spoken by Astroboy, child actors are difficult to use, and in voice acting, it is not only implausible but simply pointless, especially when an adult female can supply a voice just as good or even better for the character. It eliminates hassle, enables them to get the job done quicker and more efficiently, and in general people really don't tend to care just as long as the acting is up to par.
Look at it this way, at least they haven't been using a man to voice him. He'd sound like a teenager, like Netto in the American shredding of RockMan Eguze. And you'd better not knock Candi Milo. The dubbed version was crappy but at least she did a good job, pulled her role through all the ridiculous lines they had her saying.

A good point. I hadn't thought of that fact. I know there are female voices that CAN do it, but all too often, I find voices done by women trying to sound 9 and they just sound really, really annoying! I wasn't thinking of any actual voices of Astro when I said I didn't like "40year old women trying to sound nine." In fact, I heard the voices of the 60s and 80s Astros and aside from perhaps a few acting lessons, voice wise, they worked well.

I've seen this happen sometimes, yes, when they come off sounding strange and annoying. But all in all, I have seen many instances where it worked very well, like Ash Ketchum's first voice. Japanese actresses seem to pull this off better overall.
Candi Milo was his 2003 actress, as you probably already know, and of the three, she was by far his best English voice, in my opinion.

Hi- Thanks she does have good talent for voice acting, Candi Milo does the lead voice in Witch on Toon Disney. I love the 2003 episodes, so there is no doubt she did a good voice for Astroboy, did not know she did Ash's voice. Thanks

Ah, no she didn't, didn't mean to confuse. I meant, Ash Ketchum was voiced by a woman also.
I had no idea she was in Witch, though.
