Cool ideas - hehe - a Hyoutantsugi would be awesome! My one request for a new series would be a return of the hip (butt) guns. I haven't finished 2003 yet, so maybe they're there, but I haven't ever seen any clips of them in the 2003 series so far. Those are definitely fun and could lead to comic relief as well. For me it just gives Astro some attitude when he uses 'em.

I don't understand why the hip guns weren't in the 2003 series. I don't even think it was a dub cut either, I think they were genuinely not there.

I'd like to make an Astro cartoon with the animation quality and style of the 2003 series for the most part, because it was stellar. The music would be best done in the style of the 2003 japanese version, which is also stellar (the reason for it not making it here in NA was more of a time thing because creating essentially new songs and lyrics would be a pain in the ass). Plus as the movie showed us North America can make Astro Boy too and Japan still accepts it. They love the movie.

I'm all for something "Sid and Marty Kroftish" style along the lines of the old Shazam TV show where Astro would have Elifun as his elder mentor sidekick and they travel around the world facing everything from diobolical madmen to the typical teenager getting themselves into hazardous fixes. And in the wings is the ever present unknown quantity of Tenma as a puppet master.

Astro's not a teenager, he's (approximately) 10. Or his physical design and AI were set to be like a ten year old boy's. The age designation of 13 was because the movie had slightly aged Astro.

Problem is, once Tenma repents... who's the villain? My thoughts would be to have someone like that guy with those master control chips from the 2003 series. Maybe have him and that guy with the glasses and tiny moustache team up.

Yeah Skunky does have a nice place as a constant villain too.

I'm not sure if he should be the main villain or not. I see him as more self-centered than truly evil. He's not afraid to step on a few heads to get what he wants but he generally doesn't want anything of mass international importance... although a darker yet Skunk would certainly be an interesting concept.

Besides trying to exterminate the human race and have robots take over? No, nothing of mass international importance. I'd have him the bad guy maybe for the first or second season, than he'll switch over to his repentent side.

Mm, caught me there. My apologies, I haven't watched the 60s or 80s series in a while and I just finished the 2003 series... come to think of it, I haven't seen much of the 80s series at all. Sorry, I guess I'm no Skunk expert ;)

Ohhhh! You meant Skunk! I saw your name and I guess thought you'd meant Dr. Tenma. I was saying what Dr. Tenma did.

Skunk is evil because he exploits innocents for personal gain. And I have to say I kinda like him, he's not as scary or dark as Tenma or the anti-robot people. Just your more or less typical gangster.
