I don't want a sequel. I want an enthusiastic Japanese production team to make a movie and not feel pressured to make it in a way that appeals to a Western audience.

While I'm wishing, I'd also like a pet dragon :(

Not CGI and no new or 'original characters'. No love interests either. If that happened I'd be pretty happy.

I had a weird idea for a movie, but if it wasn't done right it would really suck. How about a live action version of Astro? Now hear me out, I'm not thinking of the Astro that was done in the '50's. All the characters EXCEPT Astro (and maybe some other 'bots) would be live actors, or digitized versions of them. The 'bots would be CGI (Think polar express). Also in 3D.

I have no problems with CGI being used for special effects, but for the entire movie? This 'animation' today really is not animation for me at all.

As for the idea of a live-action Astro Boy... it might work but then again it might not. You would really need to have a talented writer for the story that has a great understanding of Tezuka's world and story style. The main actor for Atom would probably have to be slightly older than most of his representations otherwise the whole movie might come off as completely creepy and insane.

CGI animation can be quite good. The computer can also insert conventional drawn animation into live action (Roger Rabbit, Rocky and Bullwinkle) and digitize live actors (Polar Express) That's sorta what I had in mind. Live actors with cartoon characters.

You mean motion capture animation, like with Disney's take on A Christmas Carol?

Personally, I don't think Astro Boy could work well in live action, it's better suited for animation in my opinion. That being said, if you do Astro Boy in CG, please let Pixar do it. They know how to make CG work with the story, as opposed to it being a gimick.

Anyway, I'm not sure what I 'd want for a second Astro film. If anything, I'd like to see the robot rights theme explored a bit more, and have Astro deal with his place in the issue. I'd also like to see Skunk and Atlas introduced, and maybe further explore Astro's relation to both O'Shay and Tenma.
