... Why is everyone calling the Mechanical Sun an alien??? Even the people who may have read the manga series like I did? If I remember right, it was made by Ochanomizu and one other scientist and then stolen by a gangster who wanted to use it on a small Thaiwanese (I think that was the nationality) island dotted with villages. He also used it to melt the artcic, forcing the leading people to fork over cash. I remember it only so well because Atom got melted by the Sun and was recovered by a man working for the gangster.

Yes. You're very right but in the context of the movie it was an alien. You could say like many of Tezuka's characters; it was playing the role of an alien
