A human needs compassion to be a higher being also it is a trait of human nature, no one can explain as to why or how we became or become compassionate just that we are taught how or we feel a need to be compassionate.

AI just simply means ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. it does not imply that intelligence comes with a personality depends upon how it was programmed as well. True ,that there is no robot that is AI let alone emotional but who's to say one day there won't be. when Kokoro was created I think the creator was a female because woman are considered to be the most emotional of humanity. She would have programmed reason so make emotionality possible. who's to say that Kokoro isn't reasonable?

Sorry but you're incorrect cheesecake, it was Tenma who invented Kokoro. He wanted to create a robot with a heart so it could think for itself and have emotions. He hated humans and believed robots could become more perfect than humans. Astro was the first robot to be activated with this Kokoro.

I have to read it again but I think that there was something fishy about Kokoro becuase nine year old boys don't have enough morality to get that stubborn enough or even gutsy to go against their own parents. but aslo who's to say that he did it alone becuase for all we know someone gave him something to build on. (in my fic Hoshie had made the first half of Kokoro, then Tenma finished it). becuase it would have been months to just make that advanced a program who's to say that he finished what was started.

you can't say that Tenma hated humans becuase there had to been another human in order for Toby to have existed but I am rather curious as his reason for his prejustice. he never said why. can anyone answer?

can't say for sure but mabe ha came to hate humans after his wife died, or more likely after both his wife and son died.

Yeah, Tenma seemed to a bit of a loner. This could've been deepened after his family died and what made him go a little crazy.

Compassion is an evolutionary trait. There are 2 types.

The first one, discussed here, is the will to understand and share other's emotions. On a pure logical way, understanding other's emotions is important the same way as understanding the environment is important. Acting on it, such as helping people in sorrow as a result can also be explained in a logical way: the implicit gain is a possible reward as a consequence. This reward can be as various a hard monetary or similar, or more fuzzy such as the other being grateful, or feeling useful.

The second type of compassion is very different, and relies on people or animals having a psychological condition (that I unfortunately can't remember the name), which is the inability to make a clear distiction between the self and the others. This can be as various as completely lacking the notion of self (more akin to animals, but humans are not immune to this) or having a strong self but having difficulties acknowledging people as being "outside" (possessive mothers come in mind there, the kind who want all the best for their already aged children but who will deny them the "right" to be truly independant and intrude in their lives). Of course, someone who has this condition and who sees someone else suffer will suffer himself/herself as a result.

I can easily imagine AIs having the first type of compassion in a truly logical way: help others and they will (may?) help you in return. It is said humans don't think this way, but some psychologists say that on the opposite it is the only way it works: altruism by "intelligent" egoism. Look deep inside you and think about it seriously

You can't program compassion becuase in the technical sense there is no logic for compassion. Although I suppose AI is a minor form of Compassion which is seen in some minor charactors in the 03 series (Hannah and Jake, (the robotonia arc))

I think Tenma's problem with humans arose in part because he after suffering the deaths of wife & son, and determining to build a robotic 'son' that would not be subject to illness, would be sturdy enough to have survived the accident that took away his human boy, etc. Humans were weak, fragile in Tenma's opinion, but there were, I believe other reasons also.

What would his wife,Hoshie, say to him if she were alive to see the whole thing?

"I" imagine that she probably would be his perpetual poltergeist and banchee. hiting him with tools and other hard and thick items.

Cause the Hoshie in my fic isn't a delicate,gentle flower with a pretty face. she's got an additude not to mention a temper to literally "boot" :d evil:
