Ahhh . . . I believe that - and other Cobalt/Astro differences - are the result of this:

Cobalt more closely resembles Tenma - that larger nose would suggest his adult nose would also be more pronounced (Tenma's isn't as ginormous as Ochanomizu, but it's considerably large). Also - his eyes are shaped more like Tenma's (long, with smaller pupils), and his build is long and slender (gawky) - as is Tenma.

Astro more closely resembles Hoshie - all her features are softer, and Astro's appearance reflects those things - large eyes, high cheeks, and more balanced proportions to his body.

What I wonder about is how and why Tenma reworked Astro's appearance so much - (I do have a theory - which I'll post in the head canon thread)

The 1st thing I notice is cobalt's spikes; they are very tall, somewhat like certain versions of Batman's ear tufts.

I already wrote off his nose, eyes, spikes, and proportions as being among the "obvious" differences (although maybe not so much the nose; while I'm sure everyone has already noticed it, it DOES seem to be a bit more subtle than some of the other differences).

@April: I would LOVE that, but I'm afraid I don't know how I could make it work, as I'm fairly certain that I cannot save images to my Wii in such a fashion (I can't even right-click!). That, and it's gotten to where in my head, the image is synonymous with you and your presence here in the forum (as likely unflattering as I realize that may sound). I would've liked to use it around other places, but now I can't even do that...
