Does Astro have saliva or other lubricants for his body?

Well, you know, back a couple years we had a thread with a discussion about whether or not Astro could sweat or cry (he appears to do both in manga and anime).

I've never seen anything that would indicate he has saliva, but if not, I don't think he'd score high with the ladies as a kisser (a dry mouth and a scratchy tongue . . . like a cat!? :d oh

So my vote is . . . IF Tenma's goal was to make Astro almost indistinguishable from humans, he'd perspire, have tears and saliva. He could conceivably have some kind of internal "plumbing" that would allow for that. I think.

Oh so that how it goes... I wonder if will show that in a future series or the
sequel of the movie I just now thought if he eats in the movie he must have saliva. Does it not take a liquid to break down food? Am I correct? I like what you did with Astro with the bodily fluids thing. XD

@atomicrush - Very good point about breaking down food . . . that's another thing that is unclear (depending upon which version of Astro Boy you are watching/reading). But, for the most part, he is presented as not needing to eat (and when he does, it lands in a little bag in his belly, which he has to dispose of, because he has no way to "digest" the food.

The first episode of both the 1960's and 80's anime show this (also in the manga). I wonder if he can "taste" - that would be helpful, I think...

If he did it would be a superfluous addition to his overall anthropometry. I.e the sweating wouldnt serve the same purpose it does for us (causes our body to lose energy in the form of heat when its evaporated off) nor would the saliva (begins the chemical digestion of CHO's proteins and fats). So yeah, completely aesthetic (if you can call the ability to drool or perspire in a completely non-purposeful manner 'aesthetic'). Oil would be the main lubricant for his body because, and in spite of our best efforts, the human being's natural lubricant (synovial fluid) which is found in all our joints, has proven impossible to synthetically replicate. As such it is the most lubricating substance known to man. I dont think Tenma would be able to make it in the lab so I guess Astro would be more prone to early-onset-android-arthritis as result.

Now with regards to the question of reproductive fluid........actually no I wont go there.
