Mason is one of the Princesses' captains, & perhaps also her adviser; but also teaches fencing to the young wannabe soldiers.

Image
 Reminds of a Tom & Jerry cartoon.

Image

Image
This usually indicates a flashback, but it seems merely a change of scene.

Image
The other princess, or should I say ŌJOSAMA.

Image
It seems this one has Fooler for an adviser.

Too late, Atom!

Fun with Titan (Chitan):

Apparently, one of the two Princesses had sent an emissary to Japan to meet Atom in this airport:

Mason lacks tact, & dislikes being denied.

His sword just absorbed all of Atom's energy!

He's in for it now. Mustachio's gonna whup him but good.

... Probably. At the very least, the guy's gonna get an earful. I haven't seen this one (I'm not sure if it was ever up, or if it's up now), so I can't be sure.

It was up, but I don't think I ever saw the whole thing because of lag. I remember it up to about here I think, and that was about it. :I
Nevertheless, this shall be interesting to see the rest of~

There is a sequence that leads to the "KO" being in Higeoyaji's eyes, just PM me with your email. Actually, of all the sequences I have for making animated GIFs from this episode, Higeoyaji is in nearly 1/2 of them.

Fooler swipes both Atom & Higeoyaji from Mason, but does that improve their situation?

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image
Well, Higeoyaji seems in no better a situation under Fooler than under Mason. BTW, I have all the frames for a really amusing sequence of Higeoyaji trying to break out. :p

Image
Atom is, though he is wholly ignorant of Higeoyaji's plight.

Why does the usagi (rabbit) seem happy? The squirrels seem terrified, as they should be, pursued as they are, by hunters.

It appears this is a divided Kingdom, The two Princesses each attempting to gain prominence over the other. #74, Earth Expedition (65, Mission to the Middle of the World) also had a wall between two feuding Royals, but in that one, Cobalt was the champion of one, while, as I recall, the other sought Atom as its own champion.

The song & dance competition seems to be a theme that recurs once in a while.

Image

Image
Consider this: robots have no appreciation for beauty, as seen in 57, Robot School (37, Astroboy goes to School), but Uran is depicted as singing, & all the siblings have a sense of humor.

Image
Finally having escaped the cell, Higeoyaji hopes to escape the castle.

Another funny sequence:

A great animated GIF, for anyone who sends me an email address.

The King resembles Dr. Cosmi of #56, Earth Defense Army (32, The Moon Monsters) (the color episode).

Image

Image
The King's elevating Throne reminds me of The Rabbit of Seville.

This is for you, Little Brown Fox; the much anticipated clobbering.

Image

Image

Image
So, it this, the real princess? If so, why the two robots?

Image

Image
They took Ronnie's advice, & Tore down that wall! :p

Image
I am still a bit unsure about those other tho Princesses.

I had thought that that Princess was basically a combination of the other two robot princesses. Hm.

Heheh, I hadn't thought about the clobbering at the time I was watching it. But I guess he does finally get his due. The escape scene where he's thwarted at every turn by that giant soldier was rather amusing.

Isn't the English name of that episode you mentioned A Deep, Deep Secret? I'm pretty sure that's it. Hah, those people who picked the seemingly ADD Cobalt never knew what they were getting into. :)

You are correct, Little Brown Fox. 74, Earth Expedition (65, Mission to the Middle of the World) & 99, Little Columbus (90, Deep Deep Secret) have very similar plots, I confused the one with the other. Both involve a dispute between rulers, either contending for control of one nation, or, in the case of 99 (90), fighting one nation against the other.

Thank you, Jeffbert for yet another installment of the "89"! I enjoyed the interaction between the Astro siblings, especially as it featured the too little seen Jetto and Ti-tan(ium). The story of the two princesses was interesting and it was especially of interest to me as I have wondered about this episode's story and now I have finally seen it thanks to you. Please continue to provide us with these little seen (outside of Japan) gems. Thank you, again.

I  :astro: :)

You are welcome, ASTROBUDDY.

Hey, did anyone notice the 4 Vs. 5 fingers image?

Most of the characters are drawn with four fingers, even Cobalt and Uran. But Atom is always only drawn with three (unless I missed a frame with him otherwise). I never could figure that out, except that it does make his fists look bigger when drawn with three fingers.
