Also a couple new samples of the reboot design style (which, I'm sorry to say, I really don't like at all. I could do without the 5 spikey eyelashes, but this is completely devoid of the Tezuka/Disney "beauty" that grabs your heart. Very flat, very blah. He looks like a rudimentary Peter Pan :d oh: )

Geez, non-Asian studios are really reluctant to portray Astro in more than his usual superhero outfit, are they? His style doesn't bother me, in all honesty - it might look better in motion - but I could do without Non-Brand Green Shirt and Jeans as a token outfit.

Hmm I still kinda like the style but I'd rather wait to see the trailer before I fully judge it. I hope the animation itself is nice.
The style kinda makes it look like they're aging him up like they did in the 2009 movie.

Also, just a nitpick, but it seems like they changed his eye color from brown to green based on the second pic (unless that's just the lighting). No one ever likes brown eyes

Brown is a dominant eye color. Most of the world's human population have brown eyes. (Most common in Asia.)

The title of that e-mail threw me off; I thought that they decided to e-mail us the teaser at first!

I was wondering if we'd get to see anything else before March 21, and sure enough, there it is in Tetsuwan Penguin's and AprilSeven's posts!

I'm with Uran-chama: I'm willing to wait until the teaser comes out to give this a fair opinion. I will also admit that the way Atom looks in these pics isn't the greatest thing in the world, but it's not terrible either.

With that said, there's only 44 days left until the teaser is released! Can't wait.

EDIT: Check out this site if you need to know what time the teaser will premiere for you. Keep in mind that Daylight Savings Time occurs on March 8th, so we'll be moving to Daylight Time on that day:

I just received the email as well, and I'm a bit ashamed to say I'm excited. I'm so used to these things turning out horribly, but Little Astro Boy was so good my faith has recovered a bit. Then again, there was likely more direct input from Tezuka Pro while Little Astro Boy was in the making.

I don't hate the artstyle, but I can't help but be disappointed every time I see yet another cartoon with a "muh minimalist flat color tumblr noodle arms" artstyle. The first image looks okay, if we ignore the lack of eyelashes, but the second image is lousy. In addition, I share the fear that they are going to make him older in this series. For goodness' sake, what is so wrong with Atom being a little boy?

All we can do is hope. And if things turn out badly, we still have our blurry, pixelated YouTube screenshots of Little Astro Boy to cry over. And the chance of localization this summer.

The company producing this is based in France, and Tezuka Productions is obviously on board since they hold the rights to Astro Boy. Which means it's a given that the show will have French and Japanese dubs, but what about English? Has there been any word on this? I REALLY don't want to watch this show with subtitles, I will if I have to, but still...
