If we understood the interview I posted back on page 24 of this thread correctly, it should debut either late 2016 or 2017 (which is funny because EyeOdyssey joked about that in his April Fools thread).

Yeah, The only time it was ever a reaccuring plot point would be the 2003 series. Other than that, when it's all said and done, Tobio is a McGuffin device. Only there to set up the story and then is never heard from again. Heck, depending on what version you go by, the man who BUILT Astro could be seen as a McGuffin device.

The 2003 series just exploited the plot potential for that a little bit more, I suppose. Whereas it was merely touched upon in a few story arcs in the manga, from my limited recollection- and maybe the 1963 animated series, I suppose; idk. The point being, while they are important to set up the plot, at least for those versions, they aren't completely necessary to the story. So it's not impossible that they won't be there much, if at all- heck, they could take on entirely different roles this time around, if they decide to recycle them. Otherwise, they probably won't use them at all, like with LAB.

Just seen the teaser, to be honest I'm okay with the new design (It isn't the first time Astro got a new look) and I really liked the animation with its blend of 2D and 3D styles.

Shibuya Productions is going to be at Cannes Film Festival starting this week on Wednesday and staying until May 24 (the entirety of the festival). They'll be showing off some of their work.

Today, they posted on Facebook a showreel that they'll show at Cannes. They show off the teaser for Astro Boy Reboot at the beginning of the video, but as Shibuya Productions points out, there's "a little surprise for the Astroboy Reboot fans (at the end of the video)." You can watch the almost 2 minute showreel in the link below, but I took a screenshot of the image shown at the end (albeit in poor quality; my apologies).

Oh, and I suppose I should mention that Shibuya Productions included the hashtag "#Atlas" at the end of their Facebook post:

Perhaps we'll be seeing the return of another classic character besides Atom? Guess we'll see in the coming days...

Real talk, though, that could be either one of them... Although if it IS Atlas, then they decided to make him nearly identical.

Kinda scary-looking, actually... and this show was supposed to be, like, Sci-fi/Comedy, right? Ahaha, yeah, hilarious... Unless it's going for the ever-popular rug-pulling tactic of popular cartoons of today. I haven't watched any of these shows, but Gravity Falls and Steven Universe both seem to pull similar tactics. Interesting.

Or... maybe "Atlas" is an alter-ego...? That'd be interesting, if unlikely... but, that really truly looks like...

Oh, btw, I'm wondering if somebody can get a better-quality image of that shot. Because of reasons. (I can't do it myself; my computer has suddenly decided to take issue with running anything in high-definition, as of late... it really ought to be replaced, but I can't do that just yet... there's this whole mess with Paypal lately, you see, that'd make it difficult for an artist like me to make a living. Never mind that I still can't do anything with it yet.)

Oh, I just realized, this pretty much implodes any chances of Cobalt being in this series at all. Not that it was ever likely in the first place, but still, a child-minded adult can dream...

I don't know if that thing on his chest is an "A" or a symbol for "Danger Radioactive!"
It also looks a bit like an X-Ray of him.
