Imgur announces mass deletion

Postby DrFrag » 1 year ago

Imgur have announced that on 15th May 2023 (about 3 weeks from now), they will mass remove old images that aren't tied to accounts.

All the images I've posted here since the decline of Photobucket have been posted on Imgur, and I don't have an account there. I assume there are other members in the same boat. I have unsorted local copies of all the images I've posted, but not everyone will. It's going to wipe out a lot of content from here that's been posted in the last 12 or so years.

Is there some way the mods/admins can run a scrape over the forum database for Imgur URLs? We should at least be able to save all the images before they're lost, even if the job of rehosting and relinking gets put off until a later date.

Since no one else seems interested, I've scraped the forum myself. A backup of all imgur pictures (207 MB) can be downloaded from here:
