AllenAI aims to learn common sense by playing Pictionary (TECHSPOT, 02/05)

Hmm. time to kiss-up to our robot masters is running out. If an AI can guess what the drawings represent, & draw its own pictures, does it actually think?

If so, it might be a calculative way of thinking, only. I wonder if AI ever is going to be able to generate feelings and emotions. Even quantum computers might not be able to. :?

I do not see why not. Our brains are essentially bio-electric computers; though that is an oversimplification.

Our brains are analogic computers, while those things we call computers are numeric computers. The main difference between them are the native ability to handle "fuzzy" data. Not very far from televisions: if the reception is bad, an analogic television will render imprecise and unstable image, which we can often still understand (more or less). Numeric televisions will either work, or display incomprehensible garbage, or nothing.

In my opinion, emotions belong to the "fuzzy" area. That doesn't mean that numeric computers can't handle it, just that they need to be more "analogic". However, what we call AI is often implemented with a neural network, which is more analogic than numeric.

By the way, nice to see you too Strange Wings ;-)
