The 2nd law has a problem: If interpreted exactly as stated, the poor robot would be required to obey any human's command, regardless of that human's staus. Thus, if you have a robot, & order it to buy a pizza with bacon, pepperoni, sausage, and green peppers on it, you cannot expect that the robot will be able to fulfill its mission, unless there is no way that another human can contradict your command. Thus, it would need to be rendered deaf.

Asimov's Bicentennial Man obtianed official status as a human being, but was still subject to the 2nd law, & was ordered to disrobe & destroy himself, which he did start to do, but was saved when his friend came along & cancelled that order. :D

Well the laws are only a basis on which you'd go on, a settting stone for establishment of more complex edict.

I think that robot is really a costume and there is a man inside of it. The mechanical sounds are just electronically generated. (The actors head is inside the costume, the robot is taller than most of the people there.).

I've moved this thread to General Discussion since it has more to do with a law for robot rights than it does solely about Astro Boy. Also, the thread is linked in the Robot technology thread in General Discussion.
