My monitor's brightness is set to 5%, but I still have trouble with white BGs. I had to set my Opera browser to User defined colors to avoid the irritation; I selected a light gray BG, which works fine, but only on certain pages.

Also, choose a scheme that has sufficient contrast between the BG & any text.

I agree about the background. My eyes have a tough time dealing with contrasts that bad. Other than that the page looks awesome. Maybe a different shade of blue? I don't know? But it does look awesome.

Wow the image on the first page looks awesome!! Although the link to the test set up doesn't work for me. The only issue I have is with the drop down menu as you said, it looks out of place to me, but I can't think of a better idea
