If I remember correctly, he gets dragged by a monster (tentacle? skeleton?? It's been years) into a pool of lava/acid and gets burned alive. I was the one who found it and it grossed the hell out of me.

While in Japan I bought all the copies I could find of it, unfortunately none were the volume that had Skunk... I believe he played a journalist.
