Nutcracker 3D doesn't interest me, I think the poor acting on that prince annoys me enough to avoid it. Why has everything got to be 3D nowadays? o_O It's like, if it's not 3D then it's not hip.

@Dannavy - don't know if you/your wife is familiar with the story from which the Nutcracker ballet was extracted? -- it's actually rather "dark" and kind of fantasy/sci-fi. I love both versions, (it ain't Christmas without the Nutcracker and the Messiah!) -- but they may have gotten creative with ETA Hoffman's storyline (ala Astro Boy 2009) and ruined it -- plus if you go in expecting the lovely fairytale presented in the ballet, you're in for a bit of a shock.

"The Nutcracker and the Mouse King", the story which it is based upon, looked interesting I read the plot on wikipedia

Some years ago, my brother gave me artist Maurice Sendak's (Where the Wild Things Are) illustrated version of The Nutcracker. He had recently art directed the Nutcracker for Pacific Northwest Ballet (Dannavy might know of them). I saw the ballet on PBS -- it was great -- but the book was even better, because it told the entire story beyond the vignette we typically see performed to Tchaikovsky's music.

It's actually more of a drama, and poignant (with a happy ending, though). I watched that movie trailer a few times, and it appears they are trying to make it funky in a Jules Verne kind of way. We have a discount theater nearby (where I saw Astro Boy, in fact!). I'm gonna have to check this out when it plays there, simply because I love Nutcracker as much as AB! Another movie I really want to see is "Tangled" - the Disney Rapunzel movie, but so far I've heard that's been well received. Thanks for the warning, Dan -- I'll make sure I spend as little as possible on Nutcracker!!

What the... I just watched the trailer for Nutcracker 3D... Jeez, it looked horrible (not to mention cheesy, corny, and down right weird). They messed it up. >_< I have a book of the Nutcracker, and the movie trailer looks nothing like it. Another thing, the nutcracker looks more like Pinocchio then a nutcracker. Imigi made this?! What's the world of movies comings to?! XD
