I went to Comic Con today and bought a Tetsuwan Atom...plushie was it, (I don't think that is the right name for it)? That is the most important thing I bought anyway.

How about posting a picture of it?

I got Uran and Tenma from Australia recently, $15 after shipping. (Which isn't very good, considering they're only about 1.5"...) They're from a short-run series of blindbox figures from 2003, and since much of the figure lineup was just Astro in various poses, these two are moderately rare. I've never seen them on eBay.

The manga books I ordered came today, "Atom Cat" and "The Twin Knights"
Now, I'm wondering about one thing in Atom Cat. On page 36 there is a bit of censorship, which may have been done on the original by Tezuka, though I suspect it was actually done by the English language publishers to protect the boy's modesty. I wonder if anyone has ever seen the original Japanese edition and knows the answer.
(The Japanese do have a different attitude toward nudity than we do.)

Yeah, I saw that and wondered the same thing, although in at least one of the Dark Horse volumes they didn't put a "fig leaf" on a little prehistoric boy (not especially graphic, though).

@Fauna - those are really gorgeous - so your image is actually "larger than life?" Hmmm . . . Uran is rather out of proportion to Tenma, too. But they're still beautifully done. I'd DEFINITELY pay $15 for 'em!!

I've seen the fan translation, but wondered if the person doing the translation might have done that. Seeing that this was intended for a younger audience, the Doctor may have been modest about it.

The Vertical release of Dororo was drawn without the 'figleaf' in full glory, BTW.
