This one is about a stray puppy that larger dogs had been abusing. Melmo, seeing this, decides to turn him into an adult, & learns the hard way why this is a bad idea.

Though Biriken wants to be an adult, he still wants his mother's care & nurturing as a puppy. I do not recall how he went between adult & pup, except that Melmo facilitated the various changes; yet, for brevity, I limit the # of images I post.

Image
Biriken has now become top dog.

Image

Image
Dr. W now tries to explain to Melmo the natural order of things.

Image
This, & the next two are the visualizations of the explanation.

This little girl is, I believe misidentified on the Tezuka site. I believe her name is 'Pinko' though her brother's name 'Punch' falls beneath her image:

Now Biriken is the bully.

Image

Image

Image
Melmo now feels sorry for the new puppy.

:tezuka:

Image
So, Melmo makes this pup an adult, & the thing starts again.

Image
The clash is inevitable.

Biriken has now been vanquished by the new top dog.

Image
Mama is searching for him.

Image
Is this my son, his scent says he is, but, he sure has grown fast!

Image
Note the brand name.

Image

Image
Biriken is caught, but mama tries to spring him.

Image

Image
We have seen a similar thing in our own hero's life.

Image
Now the dog-catchers are training the pups, presumably to make them fit for the pet stores.

Image

Image
Melmo now realizes that, in trying to help Biriken, her efforts only took away his mother. & she had apparently buried her here.

Image
We have seen this before.

Did anyone else notice how much Birken resembles Tramp from Disney's "Lady and the Tramp?" (one of my favorite movies) :D

At least Melmo didn't turn herself into a cocker spaniel :p

I just realized, I've never seen/read where Melmo gets these pills. Something tells me that would be a big problem for US censors! :whistling:

Aaww, little Melmo is cute beyond words!

And Dr.W. comes across like a blend between Dr.Fooler and Sharaku (something about the eyebrows, regarding the latter comparison).

She is indeed, adorable. I never saw any resemblance between Waregarasu & Fooler, other than the baldness & small size, though I admit there may be some. :p BTW, can you tell us anything about the name 'Waregarasu'?

"Waregarasu" translates as "broken glass" (ware = broken, garasu = glass).

Thanks, Strangewings!
After having watched the entire series at least twice, I cannot understand why he was so named. :p
