The saddest film I ever saw was Hachi: A Dog's Tale, that was based on the true story of a dog named Hachiko in Japan that waited nearly a decade for his deceased owner at the train station to come back.

This film had me in real tears towards the last 20 minutes of it, that when it got to the end where poor old Hachi dies outside the station in the snow and gets reunited with his owner, I was sobbing like a girl (and the music really didn't help) Which is why I really recommend it, even if your not a dog lover, you will cry at this film.
