They seem to have this pattern of sucking and then being great. XP was great, Vista was horrid, 7 was great and 8 is terrible. I have no idea how 8.1 is.

I am now wondering about the PFC Compatible UPS, the APC one at the local Staples says
"Waveform Type: Stepped approximation to a sinewave"

while the CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD (not at the local store) says "PFC Sinewave UPS 1500VA 900W PFC Compatible."

I was considering the APC, only because I could buy it on the spot, & hope it charges fully before any power failures because of the coming snow. My little 900 something VA CyberPower unit has a synthesized sine wave, & currently, the Dell is plugged into it. I have a really old GEEK SQUAD 1500 unit, that has served me faithfully longer than I thought its battery would ever last. But, from what little I now know about PFC, I would not plug the Dell into it.

On another topic: POWERDVD 13 has many features I have yet to discover, but it lacks the flexibility of vers 5, which I am still using on my old PC. The newer ver. lacks individual controls for contrast, brightness, etc. It also 'Knows' what size & shape the snapshots should be, while the old one lets me choose both aspect ratio & pixel size. Moreover, it saves to the file name 'PDVD_###' where ### runs from 000 & up. I would need to run a batch file (assuming they are even supported) to rename the snapshots something meaningful. :(
