Tenma orders Shadow to create an ultimate robot that will lead Atom into further evolution. Shadow says that Atom's abilities are because of his 心 / Kokoro, roughly translated 'heart'; though that may be an insufficient understanding of the word. Anyway, Shadow decides that he must gain a better understanding of 心. But how to do that?

Somehow, Shadow gets access to Tenma's memories, though those may have been implanted in Shadow by Tenma himself. As a boy, Tenma build a robotic teddy bear. Shadow uses this as inspiration.
