More details on Astro Boy's overseas box office performance, from By The Numbers.com:
Astro Boy finally reached the top 30 with $2.07 million on 846 screens over the weekend for a total of $24.54 million, which is more than it made domestically. In the U.K. the film managed third place with $1.70 million on 407 screens.
So if we add the overseas take with the domestic, it gives us (roughly; it's hard to find truly up-to-date U.S. numbers at this point) $43.54 million total in worldwide box office income so far. Not the number needed for true profitability, but there are other countries yet to be tallied, and also the upcoming DVD/Blu-Ray sales. Let's keep rooting for our little robot boy and keep our fingers crossed. (Yes, dreamer that I am, I still want a sequel, or maybe a TV series...)

Update of UK box office: As expected, Astro Boy dropped due to heavy competition, especially with the releases of Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, Ponyo and Battle for Terra:
UK top 10, 12-14 February
1. Valentine's Day, £3,732,393 from 432 sites (New)
2. Avatar, £3,316,855 from 402 sites. Total: £77,072,663
3. The Wolfman, £2,367,849 from 404 sites (New)
4. The Princess and the Frog, £1,504,908 from 501 sites. Total: £4,197,395
5. Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, £1,502,663 from 454 sites (New)
6. My Name Is Khan, £936,454 from 91 sites (New)
7. Invictus, £778,146 from 279 sites. Total: £2,462,568
8. A Single Man, £502,009 from 79 sites (New)
9. Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, £424,622 from 428 sites. Total: £21,337,049
10. Astro Boy, £422,382 from 424 sites. Total: £1,625,987
How the other openers did
Ponyo, 221 screens, £154,715
Pretty Woman, 73 screens, £51,938
Breakfast at Tiffany's, 59 screen, £49,949
Battle for Terra, 124 screens, £24,959
(Pretty Woman and Breakfast at Tiffany's were both special Valentine's Day re-releases).
It's a shame Astro didn't get at least a second week to himself before another onslaught of family films came into the UK box office, but the movie still did much better than two new animated entries, Ponyo and Battle For Terra. So it's still not too shabby.
