Actually, they're referring to the 60's anime where Astro's refueling port is located, *ahem*, between the machine guns. XP

Even though it was weird as hell, I really wasn't bothered by it.
Guess I'm just kinda weird like that. XP

Well, in the 80's series, I remember he used electric "energy cassettes". And then in the later manga and the 2003 series, it's through a small tank in his chest cabinet.

I guess ole Tezuka was trying to make the whole butt refueling thing like what we do with cars - put a tube in the back of the car and fill up a tank - but a little more twisted.

I was talking about solar-energy and energy capsules, thanks.

Oohh, that's a tough one. Tezuka wanted to put a positive spin on the nuclear age, being Japanese and all.

As for alternative power, well, solar's clean but it falls very short on efficiency, and an intelligent, mobile humanoid robot would be a major power hog even without the 150Khp, lasers, buttguns, and boot jets.

But who knows, maybe someone will figure out how to harness solar in large enough quantities in the future. All we laypeople can do is dream.

Thanks everyone love the idea about more efficient energy sources that can come from ideas about a robot like Astro Boy.

I've got one! If Astro became stronger depending on the number of idiots in the world, he'd be the most powerful being on Earth. Don't you think?
