NAMES, jAPANESE VS. ENGLISH

I have read some posts that harshly critique the English dubbed names, but in my attempt to catalog the various actors, I find that these are important, because I cannot find any Japanese names for them. I listen for the various suffixes, often running the DVD at half speed, but I cannot find any. I think that many of these, often recurring actors' names are simply not used in the dialogue. Yet, they surely must have some way of distinguishing one from another when deciding which ones will appear in which scenes, etc.

I usually use all caps when writing a dubbed name so it is clear (to me, anyway) that it is a dubbed name, but all too often, I must make up a name, though these are usually background characters, with no bearing on the story.

Why you want to know the various actors? Unfortunatelly the DVDs are not quite informative, unless you have japanese DVDs.
I still think the english names too obsolete.

I am working on cataloging just about any face that appears in more than 1 episode. Why? because I have seen some in MELMO, W3, etc., & want to write about their appearances.
