Ugh bummed I missed it, what exact time did the show start in Nigeria time? 8am? the 3 hour window made it hard for me to hang in there, I work on a saturday so I need my sleep! I tried to see if anyone had actually managed to record an episode at all and upload. No joy, but I did find something! Ap...

8 episodes to be recorded? That seems like an awfully short first season, unless the VA's are being offered rolling contracts. Also we now know the names of a few of Astro's new robot buddies: Pikko is the egg-shaped angel winged robot, Tac must be the the big-build robot next to Astro in promo art....

I seem to vividly recall on the small "making of" feature the original 2003 DVD set, that the American side of the team supporting the project stressed that they were more interested in Astro being more of an action hero, and less of a boy. Considering the first Episode or two of Japanese 2003 has A...

Its a shame the japanese audio on the set isnt touted more, I remember getting it for Christmas in 2006 and the inclusion of Japanese audio was a great surprise. One of my fave animes because the voices fit so well, find it harder to watch the american version (though not normally anti-dub, just the...

Astro boy Mini Set 60's - Any good?
I loved the 80's Astro series and have been wanting to look into the 60's series but those big 60's sets cost £52 a pop for me
Now theres these 2 part sets of the first boxset for £19 - I was wondering if they have any extras or if they are no-frills releases?

Thought this might interest some fans: the normally good Cartoon Brew gave Astro a right bashing http://www.cartoonbrew.com/feature-film/astro-boys-abysmal-opening-and-imagis-sinking-ship.html Needs more Astro fans to comment to prove franchise doesnt just appeal to 35 year olds...

The best thing about the Madman set from 5 years ago is the bonus disc. If you can find those special features online burn em to a disc yourself and buy the USA release. It's a hell of a lot cheaper. As for the sixties set that is a good deal. I have no idea why Madman is bothering to re-release th...

I wonder when they got around to dubbing the eps in the latter part of the series, the part that was never on TV. I read Fred Ladd's book, & he said that the 1960s episodes were dubbed the week before they aired. I think this is a standard way of doing this. My point is that the latter episodes wer...

For those wondering: odds are high these new releases dont have extras (that said I REALLY like that boxart for the rerelease, better than the minimalistic red cover of the original set!) As an aside - Right Stuf is re-releasing the first set of the 60's series in this format also and they seem to b...
