I been watching some of the episodes. They run about 15 minutes each. Dr. Blunt looks like Dr. Tenma, but sure isn't based on his character. Both Mustachio and Inspector Tawashi make cameo appearances, probably a few other characters as well.
Their method of transportation seems to have been stolen from Star Trek Deep Space 9!

The episodes up on that channel are in Japanese. They did announce on the Osamu Tezuka website that episodes in other languages are planned to be uploaded to that channel at some point.

It is a weird series. Astro and Astro Kitty seem snarky to me. While I get both of them are children but, it just seems out of character to me. Also Suezu (or however you spell her name) I am guessing she was based on Black Jack's Pinoko the assistant looks-wise. But I do find it interesting how Dr. Elephant is now the grandpa of Sue. I know I sound really critical of something that is aimed at more of a 7 to 12 audience.

Also hi I've returned from the void which is life. LOL
