105, General Atom (96, General Astro)

As noted in earlier posts about this episode, it was inspired by Tezuka's Boy Hero manga WHITE PILOT; though only certain elements were borrowed.

The manga has a very detailed story, beginning with the main character's infancy, and finishing with one of Tezuka's characteristic tragic endings. The web pages contain brief synopses of the story, of which a very brief portion was adapted to this series' 105th episode.

The borrowed part is when the young boys form a small army to oppose the tyrant's rule over the country. Historically, boys were abducted from their families and forced into armies when they reached the age of 10. Sorry that I omit relevant bibliographic stuff.

This is ヌーボー / Nūbō / Nouveau; portrayed by Mephisto. He had just launched Atom into space, hoping to send him to the sun. But, oops! the rocket was deflected back to Earth after colliding with a satellite:

解放軍オキール隊長/ Kaihō-gun okīru taichō / Okiru Liberation Army captain salutes him.
This character was modeled on one from the manga, named Chris; who contended for leadership of the group with main character 伴大助 / Ban Daisuke. No such element is found in this episode; though.

伴大助 / Ban Daisuke was adopted as an infant by 伴俊作/ Ban shunsaku; better known as ヒゲオヤジ /Higeoyaji

Yes. Perhaps the scene with the real "General Astro/Atom" being held captive, but that's all I can think of right now.

Here is the leader of ‘MIGURUSHIYA(?), portrayed by Mason. I forgot where I found his name for this episode, but, ミグルシヤ国の独裁者ボルマン / Migurushiya-koku no dokusai-sha boruman

'ミグルシ’ = unsightly

For the English dubbed- version, Fred Ladd named him Generalissimo Thrall.

Thrall had just captured and was explaining how he had modeled General Atom on THE Atom, & complaining that, though General Atom was in prison, Atom had taken over for him, in leading the resistance!
