yeah, I don't get the anime fans that refuse to watch anything older than ten years. I've chatted with one and I don't even get it I like animes of all eras. I watch Astro Boy AND Bleach

It excuse I keep hearing is that they don't like the art of older series. You'd think they'd like the variety, since most anime these days looks the same (or at least it does to me...) Well, whatever, it's their loss.

That's probably just it. It IS different. Not what they're used to and thus... scary! But honestly, I think a major factor to the new series not getting well received in America came to the fact that 90% of it got every bad dubbing move you can think of. Screwing up the characters, dumbing down the darker elements, even dubbing out of order. It might've gotten better response had the dubbing actually been taken as seriously as the dubs in the other animes they do watch

Anyway, I hope this movie will be good, Astro needs more fans in the US after how the 2003 version was recieved (Darn New Wave Anime extremists have no respect for old school anime or anime with old school inspired looks, especially the ones among the American anime fanbase. :mad .

Same in my country: a publisher has finally gotten the rights to publish "Yawara!" one of the works Naoki Urasawa didn't want to be published overseas. The response of one guy: Publish Eyeshild 21 and leave this [poo poo] alone.
