I'm not sure it was a "real" crush. Maybe it was something like "hero-worship"?
I know it obviously wasn't a real crush since he was only like five. I was just saying that the only people who've ever had a "crush" on me were toddlers. So they were toddler crushes which really aren't real crushes anyway.

I think Fred Patten's book has the story; as I recall,

WAIT - I have yet another blond!!
Spica, the transforming android from the Astro Boy with built-in soft drink dispensing era. And heck he even asked her to be his girlfriend and live with him!!!
Of course this is after he pulled out her antennas because she was trying to advise her creators to destroy the earth.
See? Even someone as perfect as Astro has problems in love!

Tezuka liked to completely and utterly crush relationships in most of his works, now that I look back on some of his works. Usually a love interest dies horribly or they die as a pair together horribly. It seems to be very rare that a happy ending occurs where both persons are alive and together. I wonder why that is. I wonder if he himself was unlucky in love or if it was just a simple and easy drama outlet for his stories.
