Shame the formatting wasn't fixed. I'm still looking forward to these even if I own most of the manga Dark Horse released. I'd prefer to have 8 books than 20+

Yeah... I don't understand why that wouldn't be corrected. I might've understood when the original volumes were first published back in the early 2000's (I can't remember precisely when that was, though; close to the release of the 2003 anime I think), but since more and more manga is getting published in its original intended format (albeit it's still shrunk all to heck from how it tends to release in magazines; and I recall reading something about editing, as well), you would think...

I guess not, though. :T

Each volume looks to be just under 700 pages, so perhaps two to three story arcs in each volume?

In the descriptions listed on Penguin Random House's websites, they say for Volume #2 "Who will stand against invaders from space, robot slave masters, and a dictator producing human clones?", and for Volume #3 "Stranded in the 20th century, Astro Boy must save Earth from a voracious Martian fungus–and save the intelligent organism from the hydrogen bomb! Can Astro succeed while also beginning the fight for robot rights and keeping robots from fighting each other?". Sadly, I'm not familiar enough with the manga to say which story arcs those are exactly, but you might be able to figure out which ones they are from those descriptions.

Also, whoops, I forgot to share this tweet from Dark Horse, which shows one of the employees holding a physical copy in her hands. Now we can see how big the omnibus is and what it looks like from the side.

That is COOL! But I thought they said it would be right to left. That photo looks like it's still left to right to me  [/QUOTE]

It looks like it's left to right based on the preview on Dark Horse's website:

aww, either they changed their minds, or I misheard  Oh well. Still looks like a good buy

It would HAVE to be, since the translations were made on top of an image flip. They'd have to do a LOT of editing to convert it back to the right to left format. Of course with today's computer software a lot of that could be automated.

By now people have seen that the omnibus combines volumes 1 thru 3 of the original 23 volumes.

But it is still a great buy if you don't have these volumes or if you want to upgrade your collection.

I  :astro: :)

Just as a reminder: Volume #1 of the Astro Boy Omnibus is available to purchase as of today.

You should be able to purchase it at any store that sells manga, or you can order it online through various retailers that sell manga:

Penguin Random House
Amazon
Barnes & Noble
Target
Walmart

I got mine in the mail today and geez it really is a brick. I'm excited to finally own the manga and am definitely going to collect the other ones when they come out.

I'm going to the mall later today and our comicbook shop is there. I have not been to the manga section in a long time but I'm sure they will have a copy. I'll pick one up if I see it!
